Last Friday, The Travel Concierge Sri Lanka, was proud to participate in an Australian fundraiser, the SKAL Travelunch,  a travel industry driven initiative to raise funds for a local charity.

TTC donated a special “Sri Lanka with Soul” package for 9 nights/10 days for two people as part of a silent auction at the end-of-year luncheon.  We were delighted that our tailored itinerary got the highest bid of the day and secured an impressive $5000 AUD for Adelaide based KickStart for Kids.

KickStart For Kids is a not-for-profit organisation that helps disadvantaged school children in South Australia achieve positive educational outcomes and increased self-esteem through school breakfast and lunch programs, mentoring programs and a Camp KickStart school holiday care program.

A highlight of the event was having an Australian hero & Olympian, Dawn Fraser, as a guest speaker and to present the prize winners.  Dawn Fraser, AC, MBE, is an Australian freestyle champion swimmer and former politician. She is one of only three swimmers to have won the same Olympic individual event three times – in her case the women’s 100-metre freestyle.  Within Australia, she is often known for her controversial behaviour and larrikin character as much as for her athletic ability.

The Travel Concierge Sri Lanka’s package included a waterfront stay at the Jetwing Lagoon, two eco-lodges being the Mudhouse & The Other Corner, a boutique stay at Madulkelle, the classic Tamarind Hill in Galle and finally a night at luxury The Residence by Uga Escapes.  In addition to staying at these wonderful properties, our guests will get to enjoy many local experiences from Sri Lankan cuisine throughout to a Jeep safari, tea plantations, turtle conservation and more.
